About

THE STORY BEHIND APPARATIX

Engineered with expertise.
Designed around you.

Jennifer Scherer and Jeff Smith brought comprehensive Pilates training and personal training expertise together to create a small-group experience with a bigger purpose: helping you move well, build strength, and make room for recovery.

Our foundation

Two disciplines.
One intentional approach.

Apparatix was engineered by Jennifer Scherer and Jeff Smith at Fredericksburg Fitness Studio. Both worked through the Balanced Body curriculum to become comprehensively trained Pilates instructors, studying Movement Principles, Mat, Reformer, Chair, Barrels, and Trapeze Table/Cadillac/Tower.

As Certified Personal Trainers, Jennifer and Jeff also brought knowledge of strength training, movement mechanics, exercise adaptation, and progression. Together, Jennifer and Jeff engineered the Apparatix system by bringing those disciplines together: the precision and control of Pilates, the purposeful challenge of personal training, and the personal attention that defines FFS.

Jennifer and Jeff engineer the programming and guide how the system is taught. Every member of our instructional staff goes through a Pilates mentorship program under their guidance and tutelage to learn to teach the Apparatix system. All Apparatix Pilates instructors are also Certified Personal Trainers, bringing that combined foundation to their coaching.

The session, thoughtfully organized

Six stations. Two screens.
Two instructors.

Our signature Apparatix session brings together six Pilates stations: CoreAlign, Reformer, Tower, Arc, Chair, and Mat. Each station includes four programmed movements, giving the session structure while allowing your coach to adjust the challenge to your needs.

Two screens organize the session. Each screen displays the movements for three stations. Two instructors oversee the circuit, each focused on three participants in a group of no more than six—watching form, cueing technique, and helping you move with control.

The screens provide a visual reference. Your instructors bring the coaching, corrections, and individual adjustments that make the experience personal.
